TRIPLE PLAY

Anthon Wellsjo’s stark YSL campaign appearance, eerily powerful Numero Homme cover  and recent success for the S/S 11 shows mark his emergence as a face to watch for the upcoming season. Frida Gianinni’s a fan; she put him in 3 looks for the show and chose him as the only young man for the F/W lookbook. Looks like 3 may be the young Swedish sensation’s lucky number; racking up such blue chip devotees in all three arenas (editorial/campaigns/shows) is a rare feat indeed. How Swede it is!

Kristen McMenamy heads off a special fashion double header with appearances in two style bibles. First, the iconic Ms. McMenamy snags the cover of August’s Dazed & Confused, with a haunting shot by photog Tierney Gearon in upstate New York. Styled by Karen Langley, in clothes befitting the rustic theme, the story is another example of Dazed’s commitment to cool.

Laetitia Casta takes on the role of Mae West for Harper’s Bazaar in a special editorial by Jean Paul Goude; the tongue in cheek tale follows Laetitia as she reenacts many of Mae’s classic moments. Known for her bawdy humor and come-hither attire, West was the perfect muse for the sexy story which features a slew of over the top couture pieces. DAILY DUO : PAT

What an entrance! Scouted and signed in December 2009, Pat flew under the radar until last month’s shows in Milan, where he opened Versace, as well as walking for Zegna. Having shot the Versace lookbook just last week, Pat has now moved on to London, where he’s placed with d1 Model Management. Add all that to the fact that Pat is a gifted student who is allowed time off from high school because he aces his homework even while away, and you’ve got to wonder where Pat will show up next!

DAILY DUO : SASKIA

Spotted by a makeup artist at a party, Saskia decided to join the boards of Paparazzi Models, the home of Doutzen, Anna de Rijk and Lonneke. She’s now about to take over from Lara Stone as the face (and body) of the Eres campaign, photographed by Vivien Sassen. You can definitely count Saskia as another dazzling addition to the Dutch model dynasty!

The Softer Side

Freja Beha Erichsen, proves she can do more than cool nonchalance with a fresh faced turn on the cover of Vogue UK. Sporting the very popular golden Miu Miu mini (bonus points if you can tell us which other fashion cover this dress was just seen on) and a great big smile, Freja looks sweet and completely deserving of the “fashion’s coolest covergirl” title. Fear not fans of the Freja’s edgier side; the Danish beauty is featured in a suitably offbeat editorial by Josh Olins inside the issue.

The Sexier Side

From blonde ingenue to brunette bombshell; Dioni Tabbers transforms for Vogue Italia in a sultry beauty editorial by Ellen von Unwerth. UN ATTIMO INTIMO

High above the meatpacking district last night, Dree Hemingway and Salvatore Ferragamo celebrated the launch of the Italian label’s latest fragrance, Attimo. At the Top of the Standard, with the lights of the city glittering below in the clear night, the dance floor remained mostly empty as guests, including Agyness Deyn,Maryna Linchuk and Gossip Girl’s Sebastian Stan, pushed their way upstairs to mingle in the open air.

Dree, the new face of Attimo—available in stores later this month— was chosen for her fresh and youthful appeal. She described the campaign as “Really such an honor.” The fragrance, a feminine blend of pear, kumquat, and gardenia, is a bid to reintroduce the label to a younger generation. Inspired by the scent—Attimo is Italian for “moment”—Dree shared her idea of the perfect instant: “Waking up on a sunny day with no plans, taking every moment as it comes.” The advertisement by Craig McDean, which captures her looking luminous while lying on silk sheets in a slip and red high heels, could be a close second. (Story and photos by Jonathan Shia)

SEASONAL LUXURIES

Each fashion house has a different vision of luxury and nowhere is it more evident than in their fall / winter ad campaigns. For Armani, the season’s look is all about elegance and classic refinement, Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott’s image of Edita Vilkeviciute in scarlet is the perfect representation of that.

YSL offers another take on refinement with its cool Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin helmed campaign featuring Daria Werbowy. Sporting a jet black bob and lots of eyeliner, Daria looks oh so chic and slightly mod.

Dior offers up the wildest variant of luxe with Karlie Kloss looking positively bohemian in a shot by Steven Meisel, the wild hair and eclectic ensemble look incredible on Karlie and capture the spirit of Galliano’s spirited collection.

DAILY DUO : FRANCESCO B.

New Face…

Francesco from Fashion Milan has a whole American Gigolo vibe going on. Born in the early 90s, he’s probably too young to have seen the movie, but his machismo meter is definitely on high. After a successful Milan show season walking for Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani and Ermanno Scervino, Francesco is now ready to bring his potency to print.

DAILY DUO : OTHILIA

A new face on the scene.

Othilia is something of a quiet storm brewing on the horizon – after coming out of nowhere in February, she was on exclusive for the YSL show, and also walked for BCBG Max Azria and Philosophy. Since then this former competitive gymnast has shot the Costume National campaign with Glen Luchford, and recently worked with Paolo Roversi for a 12 page Vogue UK editorial. Phew! Not bad for a new girl. Discovered on the Lyon subway by Johann Mapaga, Othilia is just one Silent’s stable of new French girls working for major clients.
